Yes, the time has come to take the next step in your healing journey. It is scary. You are not sure you can do it or what you need to do. You have done healing work and still feel like something is missing. You have had big “ah has” but they haven’t lasted. You have developed a nice daily life, but are missing a deeper purpose.

Why do I need to focus on dissociation and trauma in order to be more present? Isn’t that for people that are really messed up?

Dissociation is a natural part of being human. In short, it means to be disconnected. We all do it by daydreaming or fantasizing about our loved ones. And it can be an obstacle to being fully present. The more you know about how you are dissociating, the more you can find ease in being connected to yourself and the world around you.

Trauma work is helpful whether you believe you have experienced trauma or not. In fact, most people who have experienced trauma don’t admit it to themselves let alone another person. Even if you are one of the rare people who haven’t experienced some form of trauma, trauma therapy can help you face and heal your struggles. Trauma is and experience that overwhelms our capacity to understand, cope and manage, so it gets stored. Symptoms arise on conscious, subconscious, and unconscious levels. Sometimes symptoms may have nothing to do with the trauma itself, but help you deal with the impact. Emotional eating is a great example.

being safe not being safe

When moving from degrees of dissociation into more presence, what you need for safety changes dramatically. Your understanding of what safety means changes. Your capacity for discomfort, distress, and not knowing will increase slowly over time. You have to give yourself time to expand your nervous system, belief system, relational system, and daily routines. As this happens, you will begin to tell more of a difference between safety and comfort, not safe and distress. As this happens, you will find ways to be comfortable even if you are experiencing distress. When real safety is required, you will be able to make it and find it. To move into greater awareness, greater presence, you will find an expanded sense of safety. Not all feelings of distress will feel unsafe. This difference is key and your discernment will grow. Presence requires a lot of familiarity with of unknown. To gain this familiarity, you need to learn to build in nuance and tease apart the details of your experience. It is important to get out of any either/or or all-or-nothing thinking and practice thinking in terms of a spectrum- shades of grey. Getting out of extremes and practicing being more in the middle.

Therapy is a chance to work directly with me on Dynamic Trauma Integration and Dynamic Processing Model. This is the best way to make the changes in your life that are calling you but you don’t know how to answer. You can go deeper and get personalized support. This is not your typical therapy. While traditional therapy techniques will be used, I will also incorporate other healing techniques required to meet the challenges of modern life.

Modern communities struggle to meet people’s needs. Old structures are falling apart and new ones are in the process of forming. Therapy was conceived over a hundred years ago and has been evolving since.

Dynamic Trauma Integration takes the steps to move therapy into the modern era to help fill in gaps left from all the social shifts.

  • If you have experienced trauma or think that you might have, please reach out for support. The majority of people who have experienced trauma do not believe they meet the threshold necessary to do trauma focused work. Come talk to an expert.

I am not your average trauma therapist. I focus on working with people who are creative, sensitive seekers. People who ask the deeper questions about life. People who aren’t satisfied with the status quo.

  • No. The impact of PTSD and complex trauma can show up in very different ways. It can show up as difficulty regulating your feelings, difficulty connecting with your body, difficulty learning and completing tasks, or even difficulty having fun. A diagnosis is not the point. The point is to learn about yourself so that you can live the life you actually want instead of the life that your past setup for you.

Also, traumatology (the study of trauma) has come a long way in the last 70ish years. A lot of what professionals have learned about trauma can be applied to other issues now. Life is hard and in the modern age we are reckoning with stuff that we haven’t had to before. Even if you do not believe you have experienced trauma, you can likely benefit from being in trauma therapy here. Most people in modern life are experiencing toxic stress, loss of identity, loss of community, repeated exposure to violence (in real life or via media), complex moral and ethical dilemmas (e.g. feed your kids or have health insurance), pervasive power inequality (e.g. racism), and difficulty connecting with a deeper meaning of life. Trauma therapy here will help you deal with this in a holistic and honest way.

  • I work with people 5 years and up.

  • I work with all sorts of relationships: romantic (throughout the spectrum of poly and mono), caregiver/child, friends, and even colleagues.

  • Let’s have a consult. Often times it is counterproductive and treatment interfering to work with multiple therapists.

  • Yes. I offer integration support and work collaboratively with other healers.

I do not offer psychedelic-assisted therapy or guide plant medicine journeys.

I offer alternative pathways to higher consciousness and integration. As a person in recovery, it is important for me as a healer to not work with psychedelics or plant medicine. It would not be healthy for me and is not my path. Meditation and yoga have shown me over the last 25+ years that substances are not necessary to release what binds people.

I fully support psychedelics-assisted therapy and plant medicine when they are administered wisely and within a system that can support the full person and process of real change. I have worked with traditional and modern healers around the world that are fantastic with these sorts of healing.

As a person in recovery myself, I do not judge or hold criticism of substance use. Life is hard. Substances help people deal with a variety of issues, and like anything else they have their limits. Those limits need to be respected if the process of awakening is to continue. I practice harm reduction.

  • No. I am fee for service. Payment is expected at the end of your therapy session and a credit card is kept on file.

I offer superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement based on your out of network benefits. This is a big reason why I chose to become a clinical therapist. Health insurance is difficult to navigate. I am happy to do a 3-way call with you and your insurance company to learn about your out of network benefits.

Whether you want to do individual or relationship work, Dynamic Trauma Integration therapy will help you heal and develop presence on four levels: me, we, between and beyond. Building capacity on these four different levels will help you decrease dissociative living and increase your aliveness, presence.

ME

Develop presence of your inner world. Learn how to listen and understand the language of your body, emotions, and thoughts. Bring your shadow life into more conscious awareness. Discover your beliefs and values. Having a strong sense of self allows you to grow past yourself and live in an interconnected way with the rest of life.

WE

Everything in life is about relationships. Relationships with other people, plants, time, thoughts, colors, etc. You are not a separate being. While individuality has it’s place, so does relationality. If you don’t know how to relate, life gets hard and stays hard. Culturally-appropriate attachment techniques and principles are applied to help you develop fluid and consistent connection with different aspects of life and other people.

BETWEEN

A part of each moment is the moment between the moment. A part of each person is the part of oneself that has not yet arrived. A part of each relationship is the space between the two things. Learn how to be OK being lost in the middle. Learn to transition from one thing to the next. Learn how to be calm and wise in limbo.

BEYOND

Life is bigger than our minds can comprehend. It is ineffable- words and concepts cannot fully convey the extensiveness of life. How do you live with everything that is unknown and not understood? Learning to live more with questions than answers is the first step.
